Wisdom teeth removal is a very common dental procedure. Wisdom teeth are located at the very back of the gums, there are two in the upper gum and two in the lower; they are the last teeth to come through.
Wisdom teeth are rarely seen before a patient is in his or her late teens, perhaps early twenties. By the time the wisdom teeth come in, all other teeth are in place. In many cases, there simply is not enough room for the third set of molars to come in properly, these teeth can come in at an angle or they may not complexly emerge. If you begin to experience pain from the back of your mouth chances are the wisdom teeth are the cause. Your dentist will take X-Rays, the results of which will tell him or her whether the teeth have to come out or not.

Why are wisdom teeth removed?
For most people, their wisdom teeth are removed because they are blocked from coming in properly. There are times when a wisdom tooth lies sideways under the gum or only comes through partially. When this happens you have what dentists call an “impacted wisdom tooth.”
Even if you are not experiencing any problems with your wisdom teeth at the moment, this is not to say they will not be problematic in the future. It is easy for these teeth to become decayed because they are so far back in the mouth it is hard to clean them properly. Infection is a reality as are gum problems.
With proper anesthesia, Chicago wisdom teeth removal should not be painful; all you will feel is pressure as the dentist manipulates the tooth prior to extraction.
